A long long time ago I had checked out this book from my library when I first saw it arrive As it was I had read the rest of the books in the children's section and was looking for something different I checked this out along with The Mermaid and the Simpleton I was amazed I had read so many other fairy tale books I thought I had read them all But Ms Picard blew me away I either cried bittersweet tears at the end of a story or laughed joyously fantasizing what it would had been like had I been the heroine of that tale or was silent and very sad because nothing else could had been done to have saved the main characters I was extremely moveSo why now with this review A few writer friends and I were discussing about our favorite fairy tales and what we might do to rewrite them with a twist I then realized that even though I liked Beauty and the Beast prior to Disney's contamination I really didn't have a singular favorite except for many of Ms Picard's storiesThe topics are fairly simple Bad things happen to good yet poor people Sometimes they are magically rescued Sometimes they aren't but they haven't been truly abandoned Some have happily ever after endings but all will appeal to adolescents as well as older children For certain we're not talking about anything other than G rated topics I still am very moved when I go back and reread the stories in this book and made sure I have a hardcopy as well as a digital copy on handYou all should go back and find the books that made such a difference to your mind when you were growing up This book and its cousin The Mermaid and the Simpleton are part of mine characters ✓ eBook or Kindle ePUB ↠ Barbara Leonie Picard

Barbara Leonie Picard ↠ 3 summary A companion volume to the and the MOBI #242 exceptional The Lady and the Linden Tree this illustrate once again Miss Picard's knack of wrapping new story fabric around traditional material The fourteen fairy tales presented here have ingenious plots and imaginative characterizations worldly or otherwis. If this author has an agenda other than writing original and interesting fairy tales it went right over my head I found that so refreshing She just kind of takes you all over the place and you're never really sure what's coming next My kids are going to love these BUT I also think this could be a really fun book club read for adults
